Bach chez les Mendelssohn
November 21 @ 2:00 pm - December 4 @ 5:00 pm15$
Online concert Featuring Mika Putterman on the romantic flute and Gili Loftus on a romantic fortepiano with and innovative Bach programme reconstructing 18th century music played in style of the 19th century.
Inspired by Felix Mendelssohn’s great aunt, the Berlin salonnière Sarah Levy, we have put together a programme one could have heard chez elle. Sarah Levy herself was a keyboardist who had taken lessons with J.S. Bach’s son Wilhelmm Freidmann and is responsible for preserving and reviving Bach’s music which at that time was little known. With the success of Mendelssohn’s production of the Saint Matthew’s passion, Bach was gaining in popularity for the first time since his death, and still remains so today.
For this video, we will be premiering our new piano made by Chris Maene in Belgium, a reconstruction of a Fritz (Vienna 1811) instrument with fortepianist Gili Loftus. The programme will feature highlights of the upcoming album with the same title.
Video will be available for 2 weeks, and tickets cost 15$.
